So Friday (26Feb) afternoon was the americarna celebration in Hawera. It's a 'celebration of all things american' to quote the newspaper article. There's a big ole convention of old american cars that all come together in the nearby New Plymouth, and then drive a route through Taranaki. They came to Hawera from about 12:30 to 3:30 Friday afternoon.
The community aspect of the clinic had a table--this is Leisa and Hemi with Josh and I. Hemi's an artist, and he does a lot of traditional Maori inspired pieces. We're tempted to send a piece home...the only problem is that it's about the size of a door! But so cool.
There were cars from every era

There were a lot more hot rods than I expected.
