4 weeks old!

How is the time going by so quickly?!? Baby girl is already four weeks old! She's working on keeping her head up, and smiling in her sleep, and creating really loud toots that rival her father's. We're having so much fun! She also got baptized last weekend, but that will be a longer blog....
Magda has been subjected to some fun photo shoots. Poor girl. Meg had found a website called Mila's Daydreams (super cute, go check it out) where the author created her baby girl's 'dreams' around her when she slept. They are so cute that Meg had to be a copy cat.
So here is blizzard Magda, at four weeks old!

Magda had her first full on bath--she didn't even mind it!

And look at this cutie. Such fun.

Sleeping like a baby?

This is how you know when Magda is really out...

baby's gettin' baptized...

Magda loves God. And God loves Magda. To cement this relationship, Magda was baptized on February 18th 2012 in the presence of her godparents JeriAnne (Josh's sister) and Dan (Meg's brother), parents and lots of family and friends who love her.
Meg's mom still has the baptismal gown that was made by Magda's great-great grandma approximately 30 years ago--all of the kids in Meg's family wore this for baptism, as did her nephew Tone.

So cute!

Father Frank made the baptism memorable!

He had the kids all come up and involved them by asking questions and letting them check out the baptismal font and the holy oil. There were some funny questions and answers, especially from Wil (Meg's friend Kari's 4 year old). One question was 'what does the holy oil smell like?' Eila (5 year old of Alisa's) said 'lemon!' Chloe (our 3 year old niece) said 'flowers!' And Wil thought about it for a bit...and said 'stinky cheerios!'

Father Frank is a rock star.

Chloe had a blast with the other kids.

welcome home!

Holy cats, Magda is already 10 days old! She's had lots of visitors, and has been loved up big time. Thanks so much to everyone who has brought gifts and made food and even cleaned the house!

Nona (Meg's mom) always tries to be germ free....

Anna and Eric (lovely neighbors!)

McCue came by with a great little hat (complete with rainbow embellishment).

Happy Hegman Grandparents Jon and Jan!

Happy Kutz Great Grandparents Geri and Lawrence!

Lisa and her girls Shayla and Tia (Lisa works with Meg at the clinic).

Great Grandma and Grandpa Edie and Buck stopped by.

Tom and Cindy came by to say hello (Meg's colleagues).

Angie (one of the nurses that Josh works with) visited and brought the cutest little headbands and slippers! (She's preggo and expecting a boy in April!)

We left the hospital on February 1st, with Josh acting as sherpa once again (that dude can carry A LOT!!).

We came home to our lovely pink tree, thanks to Meg's mom and sister Marisa.

We've had lots of fun visitors once we got home, but Meg started slacking with the camera. Oops.
Josh's brother Jase rocking the little lady.

Antonio gets to meet his new cousin.

Erika came by with her adorable little dude Jonah.

Meg's friend Megan was in the country for her niece's baptism, and was able to swing by to visit for a few hours...all the way from Ireland!

It was really nice for a few days, so we got to try out our new stroller. Josh is super pumped about it. The carseat gets strapped in and it works really well to keep Magda nice and toasty!

We have been having a fabulous time with this cute little girl. It's still hard to believe she's ours!

Baby Magda!!

Yay for babies! So the pregnancy had been going swimmingly, till the 39 week visit. Unfortunately, Meg had some high blood pressure, and then had a test to look for protein in the urine, which was positive, so she was diagnosed with preeclampsia. So she had to take some meds, take it easy for the weekend, and show up at the hospital on Sunday night (January 29th) for an induction.
It was an interesting experience for Meg to be a patient!

Inductions usually don't work very well for first pregnancies, so at church Sunday morning Josh asked a great Franciscan priest to pray for her. He offered to do an anointing. It was such a cool spiritual experience! We could really feel God was with us.

Josh and Meg on Sunday night!
So Meg woke up on Monday and was dilated a decent amount so her doctor (and our neighbor) Nyasha broke Meg's water at 8:30. Strong contractions started right away, and she was a rockstar with them (so says Josh, Meg felt like she was just out of it) for about four hours and it was time to push. She pushed for about 40 minutes and then we had our miracle Magdalena Grace Kutz Hegman. There was a lot of grace from God with the delivery and we thank all of you for all of your prayers and thoughts!

This is us with Nyasha, she and the nursing staff were absolutely amazing!

We are very proud and thankful parents.

Josh fell asleep with Magda on his chest the next morning but don't worry Meg was watching!

Meg's friend Jamie made this adorable hat--don't you think she should sell them??

Josh gave Magda her first bath.

Magda and her daddy!
More pictures and funness to come as her parents get more sleep!
